Sharmila Tagore on missing out on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Dharmendra, “I fell ill and couldn’t do the film”

“We shared the same birthday. He was my co-star in seven films. I knew he was not keeping good health. But the news of his passing is still very saddening,” said Sharmila Tagore, who worked in films as far-ranging as Satyakam and Chupke Chupke with Dharmendra. She reflected on their screen togetherness. “We first worked together in Devar and then during the same year in Anupama. Two very serious subjects, followed by an out-and-out commercial film Mere Humdum Mere Dost. Shooting with him was a breeze. He was as effortless on screen as he was off it. He was never ‘The Star’ on the sets, always his natural self. The sequence, shot over the past week at Vrundavan Studios in Malad, features 1,000 background artistes. It portrays Panday’s character performing on stage with a lively crowd responding to his music. Aneet Padda, last seen in Big Girls Don’t Cry (2024), is also part of the scene. Suri has designed the sequence to reflect the vibrancy of a live concert.

A Grand Music Festival Setup Music has always been an integral part of Mohit Suri’s films, from Woh Lamhe (2006) to Aashiqui 2 (2013), and his upcoming project follows the same tradition. The director has meticulously crafted a massive festival-like atmosphere with pulsating lights, LED screens, and smoke machines. A report by Mid-Day quoted a source saying, “The set-up is massive—pulsating lights, LED screens, smoke machines, and a roaring crowd of over 1,000, all moving in sync to the music.” Ahaan Panday’s Electrifying Stage Performance In the sequence, Ahaan Panday’s character takes center stage, performing in front of an energetic crowd. The scene captures an intense moment as his character jumps off the stage and interacts with the audience mid-performance. This dynamic moment is crucial to the film’s storyline, showcasing the passion and confidence of the protagonist. Final Stages of Filming The music festival sequence is one of the final scenes of the yet-untitled film. The shoot is expected to conclude by the weekend, bringing the project closer to completion. With Yash Raj Films backing the venture, Ahaan Panday’s debut is already generating anticipation. Given Suri’s expertise in music-driven narratives, this sequence is expected to be a major highlight of the film.
