The Invite review – A-list ensemble electrify hilarious couples night gone wrong comedy

Sundance film festival: Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton are exceptional in a smart and funny winner about sex, marriage and partner-swapping Not enough people managed to see last year’s self-billed “unromantic comedy” Splitsville , a shame for how tremendously entertaining it was and for what it represents at this given moment. A rigorously well-directed, genuinely funny, relatably messy look at two couples dealing with the maelstrom of non-monogamy, it was the kind of smart, well-crafted film for adults we are constantly complaining we don’t get enough of. I had a similar thrill watching The Invite at its sold-out Sundance premiere on Saturday night. Like that film, it is also about two adult couples negotiating anxieties surrounding sex with other people – and also like that film, it’s really, consistently funny and stylishly directed, made with the kind of care and rigidity that comedies just aren’t afforded now. It doesn’t have the same absurdist slaps...

Rajkummar Rao starrer Maalik set to hit theatres on June 20, 2025

The much-awaited action entertainer Maalik has finally secured its theatrical release date. Produced by Tips Films and Northern Lights Films, the film is set to hit the big screens on June 20, 2025.

The makers officially announced the release date with a powerful Instagram post, writing, “Poore pradesh aur desh pe RAJ karne aa rahe hain MAALIK!” The announcement has already created buzz among fans, who are eagerly waiting to see what the film has in store.

While details about the film’s plot and cast remain under wraps, Maalik promises to be a high-octane action spectacle. With Tips Films’ track record of delivering hit action dramas, expectations are high for this upcoming release.

Starring Rajkummar Rao in and as Maalik, the film showcases the actor like never before—stepping into the shoes of a ruthless gangster with a striking new intensity. The poster, which received an overwhelming response from fans, teased Rao’s fierce transformation, setting the stage for a gripping action spectacle.

The film marks a significant shift in Rao’s filmography, as he dives into an edgy, larger-than-life character that blends raw power with emotional depth.

Directed by Pulkit, known for his work in thrillers and dramas, Maalik is currently in post-production.

Maalik is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner and Jay Shewakramani's Northern Lights Films. The film will release theatrically on 20th June 2025.
