Tom Hiddleston plays a man who might be the centre of the universe in a film of often effective parts that never really come together As prestigious as it might sound to win the Palme d’Or at Cannes or the Golden Lion at Venice, the surest indicator of Oscar recognition has become victory at the far less fancy, far more mainstream Toronto film festival. There isn’t a jury-based award, instead there’s one decided by an audience vote and, far more often than not, their picks have lined up with those of the Academy. Koffee With Karan 8: Saif Ali Khan to feature on Karan Johar’s show with mother Sharmila Tagore

Koffee with Karan this week promises to override its reputation of pure fun. The guests on Thursday are the precious mother-son pair of Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan. Saif was never too keen on doing ‘together’ interviews with his illustrious mother.

But who can say no to Karan?! He is not only very close to Saif’s wife Kareena but also to Sharmila Tagore. In fact, the role that Shabana Azmi eventually played in Karan Johar’s effervescent Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was originally offered to Sharmilaji. Getting her to come on the show was far more difficult than getting Saif.

For the first time, Saif will be seen sharing his thoughts on his iconic mother, on what it means to be born to two of the biggest celebrities of the country.

As his breakthrough classic returns to the screen, Hayes looks back One day in 1957, Melvyn Hayes was on the set of a film called Woman in a Dressing Gown when a man sat down next to him. “I was getting paid £5 a day and I’d been on location for three days,” the actor recalls. “All I had to do was walk up to a house and put a newspaper through a letterbox. That was my part. Finished. I said to this bloke, ‘I can’t believe the waste of money on this film. Take me. EXCLUSIVE: Wamiqa Gabbi, Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer to be shot in Europe in October

Last week, news of Wamiqa Gabbi and Siddhant Chaturvedi, who did a music video together, are expected to explore their chemistry even further by collaborating for a film, which is expected to be a light-hearted family entertainer. The movie is directed by Vikas Bahl along with Jaya Bachchan too playing a key role. Now, the latest update on that front is that the film will be shot in Europe. While there were rumours that the untitled entertainer is set against the backdrop of Goa, sources close to the film have confirmed that it will be shot against the picturesque backdrop of a European country.
