Tinā review – a feelgood choir drama that follows a winning formula

A huge hit in Aotearoa New Zealand, this film follows a teacher who transforms an elite private school with music, played beautifully by Anapela Polataivao Ah yes: the inspirational high school movie! This formula is an oldie but a goodie: a thinking-outside-the-box teacher profoundly inspires their students while restoring something broken inside themselves. Such narratives view education as a “school of life” in which everybody – irrespective of age and circumstance – is always in a state of learning and growing. The teacher’s unconventional methods are inevitably questioned; various triumphs and tragedies ensue. And in musically themed productions such as the Aotearoa New Zealand drama Tinā, momentum builds towards a rousing final performance. Tonally, Miki Magasiva’s film is less School of Rock than Mr Holland’s Opus: middle-of-the-road stylistically and not so much tugging the heartstrings as giving them a right royal yank. REVEALED: Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal ends with the promise of a sequel titled Animal Park

The much awaited film, Animal, has released today. Despite the ‘A’ rating, a run time of 203 minutes (that is, 3 hours and 23 minutes) and disturbing content, the film has generated tremendous excitement and is all set to take a flying start at the box office. The teaser and trailer has shown a lot and yet, there are several scenes and moments that are unpredictable and will leave the audience surprised and stunned.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that Animal ends with the promise of a sequel. A new conflict is introduced in the end. Interestingly, the title of the second part is also unveiled. The sequel to Animal has been titled Animal Park.

At 1:05 am today, the official social media handles of Animal posted a creative that said ‘Don’t miss the post credit scene of Animal’. The idea is probably to ensure the audience watches the memorable scene that indicates what the next installment will be all about.

Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna. It is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and is the story of an obsessed son avenging an assassination attempt on his father. The violent action entertainer was released today in cinemas.

The Portable Door review – Harry Potter-ish YA fantasy carried by hardworking cast

Jeffrey Walker’s adaptation of the young-adult fantasy novel retains its edge thanks to its performances, but gets stuck on the whole door thing Adapted from Tom Holt’s 2003 young-adult fantasy novel, this is a passable attempt at kickstarting a new Harry Potter-style franchise set in a fusty-quirky institution, dosed up with extra Gilliamesque grotesquery.
