Manasvi Mamgai's Hollywood production Captivated starring Al Pacino commences with blessings of Pope Leo XIV

In a rare and historic meeting at Vatican City, Hollywood legend Al Pacino and producer Manasvi Mamgai were officially received by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, marking a spiritual and symbolic beginning for the upcoming film Captivated. The project, backed by 32RED Entertainment, has commenced filming in Rome. This meeting holds several firsts — Al Pacino, known globally for The Godfather and other iconic roles, became the first film star to be formally received by the newly appointed Pope Leo XIV. It also marked the first time Pacino met with a Pope. For Manasvi Mamgai, co-founder of 32RED Entertainment, the moment was equally significant as one of the few Indian-origin producers to receive such an audience. No leading lady for Akshay Kumar in C Sankaran Nair bio-pic

It seems as if Bollywood is finally growing up. From romancing 21-year olds to mentoring them, Bollywood A-listers finally seem to be imbuing their age with dignity. And Akshay Kumar seems to lead the bright pack. After the underproduction, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in which Akshay does not have a romantic lead, one has now come to know that he has no leading lady in the C Sankaran Nair bio-pic either.

According to reliable source, “Ananya Pandey is a part of the bio-pic. But she is not paired with Akshay. Rather, she plays his intern and protégée. There is no romantic involvement between the two.”

Another forthcoming film where the hero has no leading lady is Bholaa where Ajay Devgn goes solo.

The Portable Door review – Harry Potter-ish YA fantasy carried by hardworking cast

Jeffrey Walker’s adaptation of the young-adult fantasy novel retains its edge thanks to its performances, but gets stuck on the whole door thing Adapted from Tom Holt’s 2003 young-adult fantasy novel, this is a passable attempt at kickstarting a new Harry Potter-style franchise set in a fusty-quirky institution, dosed up with extra Gilliamesque grotesquery. Co-produced by the Jim Henson Company, the production design is poky and intense, and the cast – with Christoph Waltz and Sam Neill larking it up – give it their all. But amid all this clutter, it sometimes has trouble moving its story forward.
