Cannes film festival Reichardt’s quietist, observational style is unexpectedly successful at creating a super-naturalistic depiction of an art gallery robbery It needs hardly be said that the title is ironic. The abject non-hero of Kelly Reichardt’s engrossingly downbeat heist movie, set in 1970s Massachusetts, is weak, vain and utterly clueless. By the end, he’s a weirdly Updikean figure, though without the self-awareness: going on the run with no money and without a change of clothes, to escape from the grotesque mess he has made for himself and his family. This is James, played with hangdog near-charm by Josh O’Connor; he is an art school dropout and would-be architectural designer with two young sons, married to Terri (a minor complaint is that the excellent Alana Haim is not given enough to do). Nicki Minaj Gives A Shout Out To Her Son At The VMAs

Nicki Minaj is known for her iconic shout-outs. At one point she accepted an award and shouted out to Michael B. Jordan because he'll be taking her dress off later in the night. Another time she asked Stephen Colbert if he has a wife and then proceeded to give his wife a shout-out. But this year, at the MTV Video Music Awards, Nicki Minaj gave the sweetest shoutout of all as she gave one to her newborn son, named Papa Bear. Nicki received the Video Vanguard Award at this year's VMAs and while giving her acceptance speech she gave a shout-out to her son in the following words: "I have a new baby; his name is Papa Bear. Papa Bear, I love you so much. Mommy loves you so, so, so much." Nicki shares Papa Bear with Kenneth Petty. Papa Bear was born in 2020 but his name was not revealed to the world until now. Nicki seems to be going in a great direction in all areas of her life, whether it be family or career. Her latest single, Super Freaky Girl,  debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Nicki is now one of the only 2 solo female rappers to have achieved this feat. The last time it was done by Lauryn Hill in 1998 for her song Doo Wop (That Thing). As his breakthrough classic returns to the screen, Hayes looks back One day in 1957, Melvyn Hayes was on the set of a film called Woman in a Dressing Gown when a man sat down next to him. “I was getting paid £5 a day and I’d been on location for three days,” the actor recalls. “All I had to do was walk up to a house and put a newspaper through a letterbox. That was my part. Finished. I said to this bloke, ‘I can’t believe the waste of money on this film. Take me. The Portable Door review – Harry Potter-ish YA fantasy carried by hardworking cast

Jeffrey Walker’s adaptation of the young-adult fantasy novel retains its edge thanks to its performances, but gets stuck on the whole door thing Adapted from Tom Holt’s 2003 young-adult fantasy novel, this is a passable attempt at kickstarting a new Harry Potter-style franchise set in a fusty-quirky institution, dosed up with extra Gilliamesque grotesquery. Co-produced by the Jim Henson Company, the production design is poky and intense, and the cast – with Christoph Waltz and Sam Neill larking it up – give it their all. But amid all this clutter, it sometimes has trouble moving its story forward. The Portable Door has a nice conceit: the venerable London corporation of JW Wells & Co is responsible for engineering all the daily incidents of coincidence and serendipity that happen in urban life.
