Awarapan (2007) underperformed at the box office during its theatrical run but went on to achieve cult status over the years, thanks to its unforgettable soundtrack, touching storyline, memorable dramatic and action moments and, of course, Emraan Hashmi in an intense, never-seen-before avatar. As a result, the trade and industry are confident about the prospects of Awarapan 2. Last week, some of the biggest distributors in the Hindi film industry were seen at the Vishesh Films office, keen to acquire the film’s all-India theatrical rights. The blockbuster started streaming on Netflix from June 19, 2022 and has been available to fans around the world in over 190 countries. In the few days since it dropped on Netflix, the film has managed to grab the No. 2 spot in India on the streaming giant. The horror-comedy has continued to reign at the box office and taken over the OTT platform too.

In the few days since it dropped on Netflix, the film is the Non-English content on the streaming giant which has garnered 4.12 million watch hour viewership (June 12-June 19), globally. It is spending its first week at Top 5 on the platform.
