The Invite review – A-list ensemble electrify hilarious couples night gone wrong comedy

Sundance film festival: Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton are exceptional in a smart and funny winner about sex, marriage and partner-swapping Not enough people managed to see last year’s self-billed “unromantic comedy” Splitsville , a shame for how tremendously entertaining it was and for what it represents at this given moment. A rigorously well-directed, genuinely funny, relatably messy look at two couples dealing with the maelstrom of non-monogamy, it was the kind of smart, well-crafted film for adults we are constantly complaining we don’t get enough of. I had a similar thrill watching The Invite at its sold-out Sundance premiere on Saturday night. Like that film, it is also about two adult couples negotiating anxieties surrounding sex with other people – and also like that film, it’s really, consistently funny and stylishly directed, made with the kind of care and rigidity that comedies just aren’t afforded now. Did Sourav Ganguly confirm Rajkummar Rao to portray him in upcoming biopic? Here’s what we know!

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that acclaimed actor Rajkummar Rao will portray him in his upcoming biopic. The announcement was made during a recent media interaction in Mumbai, where Ganguly revealed that while the casting has been finalized, the project faces scheduling challenges that could delay its release by more than a year. The biopic aims to chronicle the journey of one of India's most successful cricket captains, from his early days in Kolkata to his transformative leadership of the Indian cricket team.

From Cricket Field to Silver Screen The biopic will showcase Ganguly's illustrious cricket career spanning over 15 years, during which he amassed 18,575 runs across all formats in international cricket. His leadership led India to 21 Test victories and a memorable World Cup final appearance in 2003, establishing him as one of cricket's most influential figures. The film is expected to delve into Ganguly's administrative roles as well, including his tenure as BCCI president and his contributions to the Cricket Association of Bengal.

"From what I've heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role, but there are issues of dates...so it will take more than a year to hit the screens," Ganguly stated during the media interaction. Rajkummar Rao's Current Projects While preparing for his role as the Prince of Kolkata, Rao continues to work on other significant projects. The versatile actor is currently promoting his upcoming film Bhool Chuk Maaf alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, and has Maalik scheduled for release on June 20, 2025, under the Tips Films banner.
