Tinā review – a feelgood choir drama that follows a winning formula

A huge hit in Aotearoa New Zealand, this film follows a teacher who transforms an elite private school with music, played beautifully by Anapela Polataivao Ah yes: the inspirational high school movie! This formula is an oldie but a goodie: a thinking-outside-the-box teacher profoundly inspires their students while restoring something broken inside themselves. Such narratives view education as a “school of life” in which everybody – irrespective of age and circumstance – is always in a state of learning and growing. Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that acclaimed actor Rajkummar Rao will portray him in his upcoming biopic. The announcement was made during a recent media interaction in Mumbai, where Ganguly revealed that while the casting has been finalized, the project faces scheduling challenges that could delay its release by more than a year. The biopic aims to chronicle the journey of one of India's most successful cricket captains, from his early days in Kolkata to his transformative leadership of the Indian cricket team.

From Cricket Field to Silver Screen The biopic will showcase Ganguly's illustrious cricket career spanning over 15 years, during which he amassed 18,575 runs across all formats in international cricket. His leadership led India to 21 Test victories and a memorable World Cup final appearance in 2003, establishing him as one of cricket's most influential figures. The film is expected to delve into Ganguly's administrative roles as well, including his tenure as BCCI president and his contributions to the Cricket Association of Bengal.

"From what I've heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role, but there are issues of dates...so it will take more than a year to hit the screens," Ganguly stated during the media interaction.
