‘People didn’t like women in space’: how Sally Ride made history and paid the price

Ride was the first US woman in space – but a National Geographic documentary looks at how she was forced to hide her queerness to succeed A week before Sally – a documentary about the first American woman to fly into space – landed at the Sundance film festival in January, Nasa employees received emails informing them how Donald Trump’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) rollbacks would take effect. Contracts and offices associated with DEI programs were to be terminated. Staff were given Orwellian instruction to inform the government of any attempt to disguise inclusion efforts in “coded or imprecise language”. In the weeks to follow, Nasa would take back its promise to send the first woman and person of color to the moon’s surface. Orry aka Orhan Awatramani reveals he charges Rs. 25 lakhs for a photo; says, “If someone formally asks for Orry’s touch, it’s Rs 20 lakh”

Ever since Orry has gained prominence as a social media star, his profession and his remuneration has remained a mystery to many. Despite the fact that he went on to appear on Koffee With Karan and did entertain audiences of the chat show, he continued to maintain silence on what is his job. And yet again he decided to retain it when he appeared on a podcast. However, Orhan Awatramani did assert one thing that even though he hangs out with actors and filmmakers, he wouldn’t want to be a part of the profession.

For the unversed, Orry aka Orhan Awatramani shares a great camaraderie with not just the actors and stars but also with filmmakers and producers. However, Orry has also maintained that he wouldn’t want to be a part of the acting profession. He said, “I have no interest in doing films or shows. Who dreams of hard labour? Nobody. I hate work, and doing films and TV is a lot of work. And in this industry, work never ends. You take the work home with you, your life revolves around your work. People think it’s an easy life, but it isn’t,” during the podcast with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, as reported by Indian Express.

He also went on to speak about how he earns his remuneration and also mentioned that his posts and poses are both quite expensive. “Do I look cheap? I charge Rs 25 lakh if you ask me for a photo. If I offer one myself, I don’t charge. If someone formally asks for Orry’s touch, it’s Rs 2o lakh.” He said that he has around a dozen manager who take care of his life and professional commitments. “I have formal team at Dharma Cornerstone Agency, and then I have my own people,” he added.

In the past too, Orry had claimed that he often charges an exorbitant amount of money to attend events.
