Government of India bans Pakistani dramas, songs, and films on OTT platforms

Amid the rising tension between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has banned Pakistani dramas, songs, films, and podcasts on all Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms and other streaming services operating within the country. The directive, issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday, May 8, 2025, instructs these platforms and digital intermediaries to immediately remove all content originating from Pakistan. The advisory stated, "In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription based model or otherwise, having its origins in Pakistan with immediate effect."
