The Thicket review – Peter Dinklage is a bounty hunter in harsh western with unusual chill

Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis star in a horse opera set in a snowbound world of bars, brothels and wide open spaces Here is a western starring Peter Dinklage, but forget hot sun-baked gullies and leather-skinned cowboys riding sweatily through rattlesnake country. The Thicket takes place in a hard, snowbound wilderness interspersed with equally hard, snowbound little townships consisting mainly of bars and brothels. You can see the breath in the air and the blood on the snow. The plot is staple horse opera: a kidnapped maiden must be rescued by a motley group of good-ish guys with mixed motives, headed up by Dinklage playing a bounty hunter character offering a similar vein of dry, world-weary cynicism as his breakthrough role as Tyrion in Game of Thrones, only much less aristocratic. In this day and age of a digital world, where everyone is talking about and posting content about their highs and achievements in life, it’s still rare for people to share their lows or the challenges they are facing. On Saturday, Telugu actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu took to social media to reveal that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition Myositis and is still recovering.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a photo from th hospital and wrote, "Your response to the Yashodha Trailer was overwhelming. It is this love and connection that I share with all of you, that gives me the strength to deal with the seemingly unending challenges that life throws at me. A few months back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission. But it is taking a little longer than I hoped. I am slowly realising that we don’t always need to put up a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with. The doctors are confident that I will make a complete recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when it feels like I can’t handle one more day of this, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery.

I love you.. THIS TOO SHALL PASS."

Upon hearing the news, several celebrities wished her speedy recovery. "Get well soon Sam. Sending you all the strength," wrote Jr NTR on Twitter, who has shared the screen space with Samantha in films  including Brindavanam and Jantha Garage.

Dulquer Salmaan, who teams up with Samantha in the upcoming Malayalam action thriller King Of Kotha, also said,  "More power to you Sam! LIke you said, This too shall pass."

Shriya Saran commented on her Manam co-star's Instagram post, "Love and light to you, you are amazing always."

Akkineni Akhil, actor and brother or Samantha's ex-husband Naga Chaitanya wrote, "All the love and strength to you dear Sam."

Kajal Aggarwal commented, "Speedy recoveries Sam… You’re going to bounce back much stronger!"

Sevaral Bollywood celebrities including Janhvi Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Sanya Malhotra among others left red heart emojis on her post.

On the work front, Samantha Ruth Prabhu will star in her upcoming multilingual film, Yashoda. Directed by Hari and Harish, the film is produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad under the banner of Sridevi Movies and is set to release on November 11, 2022.

The Portable Door review – Harry Potter-ish YA fantasy carried by hardworking cast

Jeffrey Walker’s adaptation of the young-adult fantasy novel retains its edge thanks to its performances, but gets stuck on the whole door thing Adapted from Tom Holt’s 2003 young-adult fantasy novel, this is a passable attempt at kickstarting a new Harry Potter-style franchise set in a fusty-quirky institution, dosed up with extra Gilliamesque grotesquery.
