Slade in Flame review – Midlands glam rockers offer A Hard Day’s Night meets Get Carter

The 1975 musical satire is a curious amalgam of madcap comedy and Brit realism as the band ride the giddy highs and brutal lows of the 70s music industry Here is Slade’s movie musical satire from 1975, a film with all the pungent historical presence of a pub ashtray, about an imaginary band called Flame which looked and sounded a lot like Slade, fronted by Stoker, played by Noddy Holder. It came out a year after the film’s soundtrack album was released, and now gets a rerelease for its 50-year anniversary. Slade in Flame – which is to say, Flame, starring Slade – is regarded by fans and non-fans alike with enormous affection and regard , and it certainly has a weird, goofy energy: the audio mix sometimes surreally privileging ambient sounds such as doors closing and glasses chinking, with the dialogue way in the background. It’s about an innocent working-class Midlands band getting taken up by creepy adman-type smoothie Robert Seymour, played by Tom Conti, who exploits their raw tale...

Marvel teases Thor’s death in Love and Thunder

For Marvel Studios, the arrival of Love and Thunder in the theater is rare. Outside of the Avengers franchise, no other property within the Marvel Cinematic Universe has received four movies. However, longevity should be cursed, as there is a special moment in the trailer that could signal the end of Hemsworth's time at MCU. The first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder have officially been released, giving fans a complete look at the upcoming film from Taika Waititi. In addition to Natalie Portman's debut look at The Mighty Thor, the trailer also officially unveiled a pair of magical goats that carry Thor across the Nine Realms. Looking closer, the teaser may also showcase the biggest reveal of all - Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) in the afterlife. With the exception of The Avengers franchise, no other Marvel Cinematic Universe series has received four films. Perhaps Love and Thunder will be the finale of Thor's story, as the trailer may already indicate. We see Thor meditating under a massive tree. He opens his eyes and looks up at the sky. Both of his eyes are blue, although, as we remember, he lost one eye. Even if it's nothing more than a visual effects glitch, Thor's behavior in this scene is completely different from anything we've ever seen. He seems to be at peace with who he is. Because of this, it is assumed that in this scene, in particular, Thor arrives in Valhalla. In mythology, Valhalla is essentially the Norse equivalent of paradise, where Asgard's most ferocious warriors live out their afterlife. After all, Marvel Studios has included earlier scenes from the movie's endings in teaser trailers. One has only to think about Avengers: Infinity War. With that in mind, it's entirely possible that the teaser has already shown a moment from the finale. Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
