Veteran television actor Dinesh Phadnis, best known for his role as Inspector Fredericks in the long-running crime series CID, is currently hospitalised and on a ventilator. The actor, who is in his late 50s, is undergoing treatment at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai. Phadnis's co-star and close friend Dayanand Shetty, who played Senior Inspector Daya in CID, has dismissed reports that the actor suffered a heart attack. In one of the news updates, veteran actor and filmmaker Junior Mehmood has been reportedly battling stomach cancer and is in dire condition. As per a report in Amar Ujala, his condition has worsened. In the latest video, actor and comedy legend Johnny Lever went to his residence to meet the ailing veteran actor. As per the report in the Hindi publication, the actor will undergo an operation to remove the tumour from his stomach. Rakhee to make a comeback with Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee's Bengali movie Amar Boss

Renowned for illuminating the silver screen for decades, Rakhee Gulzar is making a comeback in Bengali films after a hiatus. Her last theatrical release in Bengal was Rituparno Ghosh’s Shubho Mahurat (2003) even though she was seen in Gautam Halder’s Nirban, which did rounds of several film festivals in 2019 as it didn't have a theatrical release. It thus clocks two decades of seeing Rakhee on the big screen in a Bengali film. Nirban was included in the Indian Panorama section of the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India and was later screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2019. Rakhee Gulzar will portray the protagonist in Amar Boss, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, with shooting expected to commence on January 3, 2024.
