Murphy’s maverick cop – and his theme music – are back to fight corruption, but four decades on there’s little energy to enliven their formulaic reunion Eddie Murphy isn’t finished yet – as he proved with his barnstormer of a performance as Blaxploitation pioneer Rudy Ray Moore in Dolemite Is My Name . But there’s something a bit tired and formulaic about this further go-around for his iconic Detroit cop Axel Foley from the Beverly Hills Cop action-comedy franchise which 40 years ago made Murphy an explosive Hollywood star – and whose catchy Axel F theme became an 80s anthem, duly revived here. Ameesha Patel surrenders in Ranchi court in connection to cheque bounce case; gets conditional bail

Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel surrendered herself in the Ranchi Civil Court on Saturday, following accusations of cheating film producer-businessman Ajay Kumar Singh of Rs 3 crore in a cheque bounce case. According to a report by ANI, Ajay claimed that Ameesha had borrowed Rs 2.5 crore from him under the pretext of producing a film titled Desi Magic, but failed to complete the project or return the money. Ameesha's business partner, Krunal Goomer, was also accused in the case. The allegations against Ameesha Patel date back to 2018 when she visited Ranchi to attend an event at Harmu Ground. During her visit, she met Ajay Kumar Singh and convinced him to finance her film Desi Magic with Rs 2.5 crore. However, according to Ajay's complaint, neither Ameesha nor Krunal completed the shoot of the film, and despite promises to repay the borrowed amount with an interest of Rs 50 lakh, they failed to do so. Actress Sonia Kashyap, known for her work in the show Kismat Connection on Sahara One, allegedly fell victim to a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by an imposter posing as renowned television producer Rajan Shahi, the mastermind behind popular TV serials Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Sonia, hailing from a small district in Assam, shared her harrowing experience of being scammed out of more than Rs 50,000 by individuals claiming to offer her acting opportunities. According to a report by Free Press Journal, Sonia, currently residing in Goregaon, Mumbai, filed a complaint with the local police, narrating her unfortunate encounter with the scammer. On June 15, 2023, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah announced the ban on Hindi films in Nepal's capital until the dialogue “Janaki is the daughter of India” was removed from Adipurush, which is a re-telling of Ramayana. “Until the line 'Janaki is a daughter of India' contained in Adipurush is removed not just in Nepal but also in India, no Hindi films will be allowed to run in Kathmandu Metropolitan City,” Balendra wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday. While the dialogue was removed and eventually passed by Nepal Censor Board, the morning shows were cancelled over security reasons.
